Share the Love 2019

Описание: Did you know that more than 7,000 U.S. students drop out of high school every day? Even in a largely rural state like Maine, more than two thousand students drop out each year. Two thousand too many. These numbers have big impact on a small state like ours. Those without diplomas are more likely to face job insecurity, poverty, homelessness, and even incarceration. They are more likely to rely on public assistance. They are also more likely to have children who do not complete high school.

At Wayfinder Schools, we are giving Maine’s most vulnerable youth a second chance at high school graduation. During the past five years, almost every student we have served has lived below the federal poverty level, and close to 50% of our graduates had at one time been homeless. Despite these significant challenges, more than 70% our graduates pursue college, trade school and technical training programs, and more than 80% secure employment within six weeks of graduation.

We need your help to get them there. We never turn a student away for inability to pay and we are committed to getting students through to graduation. This year more than half of our students do not receive tuition from their sending school districts. This includes students who are close to graduating but have turned 20 before the start of the academic year.

These students have so much to offer, and we hope you’ll join us in supporting their hopes and dreams for the future. We still need to raise $85,000 in support of our 2019 graduating class, and we hope you will join us in this effort.
