This is video #841 of my video posting project. I have been working on this project since November 2023--learning and posting a video of NEW piano music every. single. day!
Today's piece is "Topsy" by Edgar Battle & Eddie Durham. This arrangement can be found in Hal Leonard's collection of Jazz Piano Solos in the volume called "Jazz Gems". This collection of jazz arrangements was written by Brent Edstrom and James Sodke.
The last hurrah in the book--a very lively, uptempo number that made me regret my life choices. lol. Just kidding--this was a fun challenge to play the notes at speed. This is another favourite book in the series! I got introduced to so many new-to-me classics along with a few jazz artists that I've been fearful of playing (Chick Corea, Dizzy Gillespie, Charlie Parker, etc.) Very rewarding!
