The core techniques of Taijiquan, Eight Methods and Five Steps routine 八法五步功法is
systematically refined and developed for students to understand and practice the basic principles and movements namely: • The eight hand techniques/energies: Peng (Ward Off), Lü (Rollback), Ji (Press forward), An (Push down), Cai (Pluck), Lie (Split), Zhou (Elbow strike ), Kao (Leaning strike) • The five footwork techniques: Jin (Advance), Tui (Retreat), Gu (Look Left), Pan (Look Right), Ding (Central Stability) 太極八法五步即:掤、捋、挤、按、採、挒、肘、靠八种手法,以及进、退、顾、盼、定五种步法 Its movements are structurally simple, well-balanced in quantity, and easy to learn and practice, making it an ideal introductory Taijiquan routine.
