There are lots of Nigerians both in Nigeria and abroad who cannot speak or understand their mother tongue.

"If you understand Yoruba and can' speak it, you only understand 20% of the language," says Mr Kola

BattaBox London presenter Mary visits a Yoruba school in London tutored by Mr Kola Ogunbayode who teaches Nigerians and non Nigerians who have interest in reading and writing Yoruba language.

"I'm Yoruba born and raised in London so i don't understand it or speak it," says one of the students

There are over 521 languages in Nigeria, but the most popular ones is the Yoruba, Igbo and Hausa language.

Mr Kola who doesn't let anyone who cannot greet in Yoruba into his class, started tutoring Yoruba language in London years ago because he wanted his daughter to understand and speak their native language.

"I felt like many people wanted this opportunity as well," says Mr kola

Although Mary claims to understand Yoruba, but her speaking it is absolutely terrible.
