For centuries, the story of Mt. Vesuvius has on the devastating AD 79 eruption, but what happened after the disaster? New discoveries reveal a surprising story of recovery and resilience. In this talk, we’ll explore how the landscape and its people rebounded, from the immediate aftermath to long-term rebuilding efforts. We’ll look at how Emperor Titus helped survivors rebuild their lives and farms, and how different parts of the region were affected.
By examining recent archaeological findings, we’ll uncover lessons of human resilience and adaptation that still hold meaning today.
