Please refer to video 1 in the series for more of the problem set up - setting out the problem.
The task is to determine the bearing pressures under the base of the retaining wall. This is accomplished by taking moments about the base of the heel of the wall as marked with X in the diagrams.
In general this would be one of THREE overall checks that would be completed on a retaining wall which I would class as group 1 - stability checks.
1. OVERTURNING
