Today’s companion plant is Alstroemeria ‘ Indian summer’
Originating from South Africa this group of Plants can take heat and long periods without rain once it’s established this particular variety forms a clump around 70 cm tall around 60 cm wide
it has the most glorious chocolate brown foliage and bears large clusters of bright red orange and flame yellow flowers flecked with Brown from June through to October
Mixing well with other hot coloured flowers try planting this alongside rose ‘ absolutely fabulous, also known as Julia Childs available @PeterBealesRoses or burnt orange colours like ‘the lady of shallot’
Preferring a location in the garden in full sun or lightly dappled shade should you wish to bring this into the house as a cut flower stems should never be cut always pulled like rhubarb take hold of the stem firmly close to the base and tug it sharply. It will remove a small heel from the plant which should be removed before placing it directly into water where it will last around 10 to 14 days in a cool room
