Broadband noise such as white, pink, violet and brown noise is sometimes used to manage reactions to tinnitus.
Violet noise is a type of noise where the sound intensity increases in the high frequencies. It is the opposite of pink or brown noise where the sound intensity is higher in the low frequencies. As most people tend to be sensitive to high frequencies sounds, violet noise may sound harsher than pink or white noise to the human ear.
However violet noise does an excellent job of masking surrounding sounds and can be used to mask the high frequency sounds heard by tinnitus sufferers. Those people who use violet noise in treatment frequently refer to it as a water-spray-like sound.
As deep breathing is scientifically proven to reduce stress, we combine violet noise with animated breathing graphics to guide you towards breathing deeply. Set the volume of the violet noise to a soft comfortable level and try timing your breathing with the animation. Try to do it for at least 10 minutes on your first try and slowly increase the duration to 15 to 20 minutes.
