This is a Motormouth couple car review of the all-new Electrified Genesis GV70 compact SUV. The GV70 has a 77.4 kWh battery with 383 km/283 miles of range. It has 429 horsepower, 516 lb-ft of torque and with boost mode you get a power bump to 483 horsepower. Standard AWD.
There is just one trim in Canada which comes fully loaded for $84,150 CAD and two in the US, Advanced $65,850 USD and Prestige $72,650 USD.
Standard features in Canada include a 12.3” 3D digital cluster, 14.5” touchscreen with navigation, wired Apple Carplay and Android Auto, wireless charger, surround view monitor, head-up display, 15-speaker Lexicon audio system, a power driver and passenger seat with lumbar support, heated and ventilated front seats, driver seat memory, heated steering wheel, heated rear seats, a panoramic sunroof and a hands-free power liftgate.
In the US, since there are two trims, the base model has a few less features compared to the Canadian model. It’s missing the 12.3” digital driver display instead, you get an 8” display and leather upholstery is offered instead of Nappa leather.
The top trim adds those features along with a suede headliner, head-up display, Lexicon audio system, heated second row seats and a heated steering wheel.
With a Level 2 charger, the GV70 will charge in just over 7 hours and 20 minutes. With a DC fast charger reaching an 80% charge at a maximum charging speed of 50 kW, it will take 73 minutes and a charging speed of 350 kW, 18 minutes. This electric vehicle also comes with a vehicle to load function. Genesis offers a warranty of 5 years or 100,000 km/60,000 miles. In Canada, Genesis offers 5 years complimentary maintenance and in the US, 3 years or 36,000 miles.
US customers get 3 years of 30-minute complimentary DC fast charging sessions at Electrify America stations.
All US models will now be assembled at the Montgomery, Alabama plant in the US. Canadian models will continue to be built in Korea. The electric GV70 will qualify for a tax credit in the US but due to the higher price point, it doesn’t qualify for the Federal EV rebate of $5,000 in Canada.
