Sequoia was an excellent National Park to visit with little kids. I was with my 5-, 3-, and 1-year-old whose legs get tired after even short hikes. There were lots of short flat paths in the park that even toddlers and strollers can handle.

Here Are the Top 7 Tips for Visiting Sequoia with Little Kids

📍Tip 1: Gas up the car before you go, and enter the park through the Ash Mountain Entrance. The gateway town is Three Rivers, and as you’re driving through you’ll already start to get some stunning views. Cost is $35 per vehicle.

📍 Tip 2: Stop at the Foothills Visitor Center to get your bearings. The park rangers walked me through the best places to stop with little kids, along with the easiest hikes. Take notes on your phone or bring a pen and paper. Hit the restrooms since you’ll be doing a lot of driving after this stop!

📍Tip 3: Dress in layers! It can be sunny and warm, but it can also get really chilly in the mountains.

📍 Tip 4: Bring lots of food and water. Read up on safety guidelines for storing food so you don’t attract bears.

📍 Tip 5: Be aware of altitude sickness. Drink lots of water, have motion sickness medication, and have bland crackers and sick bags at the ready.

📍 Tip 6: Drink lots of water the day BEFORE you go to the park. Sip water throughout your day in the park, but be aware there won’t be a lot of bathroom stops.

📍 Tip 7: Don’t try to cram too much into one day. By the time we hit General Sherman Tree, the kids were no longer in awe and starting to reach meltdown phase.
