Round 21, Kogarah Jubilee Oval, 1985
The 1985 NSW Rugby League competition consisted of thirteen teams. The Eastern Suburbs Roosters finish the regular season 7th. The St George Dragons finished the regular season as Minor Premiers. The competition was won by the Canterbury Bankstown Bulldogs, their 5th premiership and 2nd in a row.
This match was the second-round clash between the Dragons and Roosters played at Kogarah Jubilee Oval, home ground to the Dragons.
This game was televised by Channel 10 (NEC Big Game) with legendary commentator Ray Warren, with co-commentary from Graham Hughes and Bill Anderson.
The Roosters led at the half time break 14-10 and the game ended at a 22-22 draw.
Eastern Suburbs featured talented players such as Dean Bell, John Ferguson, Ron Gibbs, Laurie Spina & Hugh McGahan. St George had their share of superstars in Steve Morris, Michael O’Connor, Pat Jarvis & Craig Young.
