Описание: Microsoft Excel Tutorial - Excel Tips: How to Copy Formatting with Paste Picture Link | MrExcel Netcast.

Welcome back to the MrExcel netcast, where we share tips and tricks to help you excel in Excel. In our previous episode, we discussed how to set up links in a spreadsheet. Little did I know, this information would come in handy for one of our viewers, Carrie. She called me today to let me know that she was having trouble with the links not copying the formatting. As it turns out, the question was actually from her colleague, Mike Grivin, who was sitting in her office. I was able to help them out and I want to share the solution with you all.

So, here's the scenario: you have a link set up in your spreadsheet, but when you change the formatting of the linked cell, it doesn't reflect in the linked cell. Well, the solution is simple. Instead of using the regular paste option, we need to use the "paste picture link" option. To do this, simply copy the cell with the desired formatting, go to the cell where you want it to appear, hold down the shift key, and go to the Edit menu. You will now see the option to paste as a picture link. This will ensure that the formatting of the linked cell is always in sync with the original cell.

Now, there is a downside to this method. We cannot use any calculations in the linked cell. So, if you need to use calculations, you can still use the regular link formatting that we discussed in the previous episode. But, if you just need to copy the formatting, the "paste picture link" option is the way to go. I also want to mention that this option is available in both Excel 2003 and 2007, so no matter which version you are using, you can still use this trick.

I want to thank Carrie for bringing this issue to my attention and I hope this solution helps her and Mike. And to all our viewers, thank you for tuning in to another netcast from MrExcel. Don't forget to like, share, and subscribe for more Excel tips and tricks. See you next time!

Carrie from yesterday's podcast called in to say that the links are not working. It turns out that Carrie and Mike wanted to copy the cell shading of the linked cell and regular links don't do that. For Episode 1057, I go back to Excel 2003 to show where the Paste Picture Link is hidden.
