Padmesvar temple is a hindu temple dedicated to Lord Shiva and located on the top of Baneswar hill in Padamala village in Narasinghpur block under Cuttack district. The temple is situated at the left side of the river Mahanadi adjacent to Sidhamula bridge.

The temple was believed to have been built in the 10th century AD by Somavamsis. Subsequently, the temple was renovated by the ex-rulers of K.P Singdeo in 1880 and by Ananta Narayana Singdeo in 1942. Even if the priests don't about the history and still believe that the temple was built by A.N Singdeo, as his name and the year is depicted inside the temple.

The legends about the temple dates back to Dwapar yug of the hindu mythology and it is believed that King Banasura used to rule here and worship Lord Shiva. And the locals popularly terms this temple as Baneswar temple.

The top of the temple is somewhat destroyed and open due to unknown reasons. But looking at the sculptures, it gives a sense that the rulers were fond of art. And the carvings on the stones are beyond words. You will also find four Shiv Lings at four corners of the temple.
