Описание: Haridwar in Uttarakhand (200-220 KM Range within New Delhi, Chandigarh, Ludhiana & Patiala, with an airport at 37 KM called Jolly Grant Airport) is one of the seven sacred Shiva Places for Hindus (Sapthapuri) and is gateway to similar sacred places in the vicinity (Kedarnath, Badrinath, Gangotri and Yamunothri). It is one of the sacred places, of the four, where the Jeeva "Amrut or Amrit" (Elixir for immortality) spilled from the pitcher carried by the celestial bird Garuda. In Haridwar, Bramhakund is specifically revered for this. Other than Haridwar, the three places are: Ujjain, Nashik and Pragyaraj (Allahabad). Hence, Haridwar is called as Mayapuri or Dev Bhoomi, through which Maa Ganga (Ganges from snow of Himalayas) run through. Devaprayag river runs 60 KM from Haridwar. Kumbhmela (once in 12 years) and Ganga Arti (as in Kasi or Varanasi) are famous here. As "Har" stands for Shiva and "Hari" stands for Vishnu, this place is considered holy by both Saivites and Vaishavites, and called as Hardwar / Harithuvar. Haridwar is located at the banks of Ganges, at the foothills of Shivalik Mountain Range.
