Jafaar the uncle of Imam Mahdi (a) continued to claim that he is the Imam. He was collecting khums, zakat (money) on behalf of the Imam (a). One day a delegation comes from Qom. At that time Qom was a city mainly populated by the followers of the Ahlulbayt (a).They had top scholars. The delegation decides to go to Samarra and give their money to the Imam (a). When they arrive in Samarra and come to know that Imam al-Askari had been martyred, they start looking for the next Imam. One of the friends of Jafar, the uncle of Imam Mahdi (a), came to them and told them that he could take them to the Imam (a).
