This is one of those recordings that sounds good on anything - even your phone. But on a real hi-fi system, It shines. You hear every breath, every detail. This recording is warm and gentle, it does not sound sharp, bright or harsh.

Stereo or Mono sound?
Is this a mono recording? It does sound mono - and you might think it is. But in reality, I belive, the track is most likely recorded in stereo, just with an intentionally narrow mix. This recording features only vocals, finger snaps and double bass. All of that is placed tightly in the center of the soundstage. If, on a hifi system, any of these three elements (vocals, fingers, doublebass) sound like they're coming from anywhere other than dead center, that’s a red flag. It could point to bad speaker positioning, bad room acoustics or even a fault in the audio chain itself.

Where are the vocals, finger snaps, and double bass positioned? Although all these three elements are placed tightly in the center of the soundstage, each one occupies its own vertical position within the image: the double bass sits low, the vocal is in the middle and the finger snaps float just above it.

There’s a nice sense of space in this recording. You can hear the room itself - the air between the instruments. Right from the opening finger snaps, you can tell this was recorded in a live room - you can actually sense the physical boundaries of the space. The snaps are filled with air. Actually, It sounds like it was recorded in a live room - or maybe it was recorded in a dead room and then they added reverb later. That's hard to say.

The double bass that enters after the opening finger snaps sounds big and massive. It's got big body.

And the vocal? You can hear how her lips move. The vocal is full-bodied and airy in all directions - forward, backward and sideways. If you're worried about the occasional sibilance - don’t be. That’s just Diana’s voice, Diana's style. It’s not caused by your hifi system - it’s actually part of the recording itself.
