Описание:
Time lapse of a convergence from a back door cold front that passes directly overhead during 22 May 2021.
The first couple minutes show typical convective activity for this location, but the lower right corner of the frame shows low clouds advancing into the scene from the opposite direction of the prevailing winds. This is from a back door cold front moving from east to west. This cold front is not deep. At this altitude (9,440ft) it's only one or two thousand feet thick as the prevailing winds continue to move over the cold front from southwest to northeast. In the beginning of the video cloud base was approximately 13,000 to 14,000 feet, but it drops practically to ground level as the cold front moves over the site.
Site is in the Sacramento mountains of southern New Mexico approximately 30 miles south of Sierra Blanca peak, looking north and a bit east.
Video starts a bit after local noon and continues a bit past sunset, eight hours later.
30 frames per second in this rendering. Exposure interval was two seconds.
