Nepal rescuers reach flood victims trapped in hydropower tunnel

Описание: Rescuers in Nepal battled through thick mud to reach labourers and residents trapped inside a tunnel at the Upper Trishuli Hydropower project following devastating floods.

The Prime Minister's Office said 350 people had been rescued from the tunnel and another 533 residents moved to safety, while efforts continued to evacuate more than 100 people still trapped.

The confirmed death toll in Nepal had reached 489, with almost 1,000 people reported missing in Nepal and neighboring Xizang after a glacier collapse triggered torrents of rock, ice, mud and debris through Himalayan river systems.
