HOLST "Suite in Eb" Mvt. 1: Chaconne (for Brass Octet)

Описание: One of the first projects Algirdas and I produced was a wind band masterwork by Gustav Holst—his “First Suite in E-flat.” Band musicians will know the piece well. Here is (I like to think) a very well-crafted reduction of the piece for brass octet. Back in 2020, in the very depths of the Covid Lockdowns, we only had a couple of musicians available and extremely limited equipment and resources. (Though, with no public performances, we had lots of time!) We were somewhat happy with the result, but the instrumentation limitations and recording and production quality were not as good as we liked and certainly not up to the standard we have risen to over the last few years. We’ve updated the entire project—both sheet music and the recording--and I think it makes all the difference! I hope you’ll enjoy the results. Today is movement 1: “Chaconne.” We’ll be rolling out the second and third movements over the next two weeks!
