Everyone loves this abiding oddity: Thames Weekend News on LWT.
In short: LWT never had need for a newsroom, broadcasting from 1900 on Friday until closedown on Sunday. Then the IBA moved their hours to 1715 on Friday... which lost Londoners Friday's Thames News and would have cost LWT a fortune to replace. So they bought Friday night's Thames News from Thames Television (sensible - LWT didn't have to start a newsroom to meet the IBA's news requirements, whilst it cost Thames exactly what their previous 5-day operation had and they now had LWT paying in).
