Lemon and Herb basted Turkey 🍋

Описание: I felt like making this smaller turkey into a spring like flavor combination! The snow is starting to melt here, the temperature has been average instead of 20 degrees below the normal. Saying this, I took the opportunity to defrost this smaller( a bit less then 12 pounds) turkey, zested two organic lemons, halved a small white onion, made some lemon and herb compound butter and got to business! I placed the bird onto several stalks of celery so, it doesn’t stick to the dish and that also allows for better heat circulation. I, of course cleaned the bird and seasoned the cavity with S&P. I then mixed about a 1/3 pound of softened butter with the zest of the two lemons, one teaspoon of mixed citrus zest, one teaspoon each of Italian seasoning, sage, poultry seasoning and salt. Then I used 1/2 on each side of the breast under the skin. I placed the two lemons sliced, the onion and 3 bay leaves into the cavity. Then I placed the legs tucked in front. I then covered the bird with good olive oil and foil. I will bake this at 325 for approximately 3 1/2 to 4 hours. I’m going to make some fresh organic string beans, sourdough stuffing and maybe potatoes on the side! I’ll post a short of the finished meal! I can’t wait. I’m making lemon butter instead of gravy for serving. 🍋🍗
