The Island That Moves with Boats: A Wisconsin Wonder!

In the Chippewa Flowage, there’s a 40-acre bog that isn’t fixed to the lakebed but floats freely on the water. It’s made up of peat, roots, and vegetation, and even has trees growing on it!

What’s even more fascinating is that the island drifts across the lake. Sometimes, it blocks a key bridge, and when that happens, local residents use their boats to push it back into position. It’s an incredible sight – people working together to move a literal island!
