The objective of this course is to teach the participants basic implant prosthodontics. I will divide this presentation into 2 broad areas: (A) crown and bridge on partially edentulous patients, (B) prosthetic on fully edentulous patients (B1) fixed prosthesis utilizing screw retained hybrids and (B2) all acrylic over-dentures supported by free-standing attachments. The educational goal is to present simple and proven clinical techniques in modern implant prosthodontics. These will include understanding of restorative components, discussion on open vs closed tray techniques, discussion of screw retained vs cemented restorations and discussion on individual vs splinted crowns. I will also speak on selection of components according to type of final restoration taking into consideration tissue height, implant angulation and restorative vertical height available.
About Presenter
My name is Virgil Mongalo and I am a General Dentists with a passion for surgeries and restorations in the field of Oral Implantology. This passion led me to enroll in multiple post-graduate surgical and prosthodontics externships that culminated in teaching appointments at Georgia Medical College in the department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, University of Florida department of Advanced Studies and at the University of Miami department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. I am the Chairman of Live Implant Training Institutes in Nicaragua and in Mexico where we have trained 1,200 dentists how to perform free-handed surgeries. I am president of the AAIP-Latin America Society and President of the ICOI-Nicaragua Society. Our educational efforts in the past decade have been supported by Blue Sky Bio implant system.
