The aircraft launched in this video is being controlled by a UAV Dev Board (UDB4) autopilot. The aircraft is being piloted by the UDB4 during this entire short video sequence. The UDB4 is running MatrixPilot software and is operating in stabilized mode.
Both the motor control and vehicle attitude is being controlled by the UDB4. Motor startup is initiated immediately after the UDB4 senses the axial acceleration on the vehicle from the catapult. This enables the pilot to operate just the launcher (i.e., push the foot pedal) during the launch sequence and not have to worry about piloting the aircraft during the ascent.
