Defence secretary says UK forces involved in 'defensive measures' in Middle East

British forces have “taken down” Iranian drones that have threatened British interests in the Middle East, Defence Secretary John Healey has told Sky News.
Mr Healey told Trevor Phillips the RAF was involved in "defensive measures" in the Middle East and "taking down the drones that are menacing either our bases".
The senior cabinet minister did not say what weapons were used.
“We're flying those sorties. We're taking down the drones that are menacing either our bases, our people, or our allies," he said.
"And this is a really serious and deteriorating situation.”
He was speaking after Iran confirmed the Supreme Leader, Ayotallah Ali Khamenei, was killed in US-Israeli strikes.
