I introduce to you my new pattern, Diagonally. Honestly this is a rather simple little pattern. I´m just starting to explore the possibilities of working with diagonal designs here, and of course one must start with the basics. Included in the pattern are 4 different charts that you can then combine many ways.
For all the love I have for the mosaic crochet, during the years I´ve struggled to get diagonal lines to look neat in this technique. Well, finally I´ve cracked it and now have a blueprint for how to incorporate crispy clean diagonal lines in my mosaic designs. Oh. The. Joy! This opens up so many design possibilities and I just feel like the world is now at my feet! Haha!
In this pattern I have included 3 basic diagonal designs: stripes to the right, stripes to the left and then how to do neat turns between the two. In this video I show you how to work the first two charts, full repeats. that's diagonally to the right and left.
I'm working on a video showing how to make the turns and I will upload that to the written pattern next week, that one is included in the pattern itself as a little extra thank you for those who purchase the pattern.
I also have my Birthday SALE going now and until end of month, so you can get this one as well as all of my patterns for a steal! 45% flat discount on all the patterns in my Ravlery shop, no code reeded! Hope you go and check it out, lots of fun patterns available,

I wanted to do just a simple pattern introducing the technique to my crochet tribe… but then couldn´t resist adding one more chart with a bit more of adventurous design: The Diagonal Bricks.
The idea for the bricks came from the fact that I kept thinking about Diagon Alley from Harry Potter and so the bricks represent the old timey cobble streets. I love the look and feel of those and it also reminds me of happily wandering the streets of old Havana and the Barrio Gótico in Barcelona in my youth. Happy times.
This pattern comes with user-friendly charts plus written instructions for how to start your Diagonally projects both flat and in the round. If lefthanded, you can follow the chart from left to right no problem, it´ll look the same. The DC2tog are a bit different when worked from left to right and I include special lefthanded description for those symbols on pages 6, 10 and 12. The pattern also includes written instructions for what parts of the charts I used for my original Diagonal Bricks cushion panel, but you can then combine the differnt design any way you like, to make a unique piece.
Following are the stithces we use in this pattern.
Abbreviations (US terms):
ST = stitch/stitches
SS = slip stitch
CH = chain stitch
SC = single crochet
DC = double crochet
DC2tog = work 2 DCs together
Diagonally – Video tutorials
I always strive to do at least 1 video tutorial for each new pattern that I publish and upload those to my YouTube channel, free of charge for everyone. This time I have decided to up my game and on top of the free video showing you how to work the charts for both the left and right Diagonally charts, available later tonight on my YouTube Channel.
I am also making a BONUS video that will only be available via a special link you get included when purchasing the pattern. In this extra video I show you how to work the turning part going right to left, plus some more rambling on and showing you the process of how I made my original Diagonally cushion. I do this to show my appreciation for your support. The link for the BONUS video will be available in a special PDF I will add to the pattern once it’s ready, should be in the first week after publishing.
Yarn & hook:
You can use any yarn you like for this pattern and a hook that suits your yarn.
I used fingering weight wool (100 g = 400 m) and a 2.5 mm hook for my Diagonal Bricks cushion.
My gauge with this yarn and hook:
25 ST and 25 rows = 10 cm
For my original Diagonal Bricks panel, which is 45 x 45 cm including the border, I used:
1 x 100 g skein in colour A
1 x 100 g skein in colour B
you can get a kit in Australia with the same colours and yarn I used here:

the video I mentioned for how to sew the panel onto the cushion is here:
