Exploring Utah - Scenic Drive: Moki Dugway (2020)

Описание: Join D’n’A Ventures for another scenic drive along the Moki Dugway, in San Juan County Utah. State Route 261 has an intense, unpaved section of roadway, that takes drivers around hairpin turns and steep switchbacks along the cliffs of Cedar Mesa. As we make are ascent from the valley floor up to the snow covered top of Cedar Mesa; we will be rewarded with some of Utahs most acclaimed and beautiful natural sites. There are overlooks along the dugway that allow drivers to get out and soak in views of the neighboring BLM Valley of the Gods and far off in the distance one can see the Iconic, Monument Valley Navajo Tribal Park. After successfully driving up the Moki Dugway at the top be sure to check out Muley Point vista. You have to drive on a sand road to make it to the vista location, this road was unfortunately closed due to snow, we took our trip winter. The drive does have some epic moments due to its 11% grade, massive boulders and sheer cliffs. It’s only 3 miles long and you gain 1,200 feet of elevation. This road is located in the south eastern portion of the state, placing it in a long list of many other must see locations in Utah. From this location one can easily visit landmarks such as Goosenecks State Park, Valley of the Gods, Mexican Hat, Bears Ears National Monument, Monument Valley , The Four Corners, etc. The State of Utah recommends that no vehicle over 28 feet in length and over 10,000 pounds attempt to navigate the dugway. Also, inclement weather makes the dugway impassable quite often. Make sure the road is open before setting out on the adventure.
