Klaytn is a global public blockchain platform developed by GroundX, the blockchain subsidiary of the leading South Korean Internet company Kakao established in 2010. Klaytn combines the best features of both public and private blockchains via an efficient hybrid design. In a public blockchain, like Bitcoin, anyone can read and write on the blockchain ledger, and in a private blockchain, only a single entity or organization can read and write on the ledger.

KLAY is the main internal transferable cryptocurrency of Klaytn, which is used to pay for transaction fees and staking, and to create or execute smart contracts.
