Conversion is the wrongful deprivation of another's property. For example, sometimes property is taken by another person, where we would normally say that's a theft. Well, Florida has a common law definition of conversion, which doesn't require intent. It simply requires the wrongful taking or deprivation of another's property. The lawsuit can be for damages for the value of the property as well as punitive damages sometimes, depending on what was taken.
