Drillind vessel Chikyu was home fo rthe IODP Expedition 286 Science Party. Implemented during the pandemic and therefore with restrictions, it was th efirst toime that thte scientists met in person. Their gowl: to sample the cores that were take during the offshore phase in 2021. 18,192 individual samples were taken from the cores in the dedicated labs onboard the ship over 3 weeks.
