Il Deserto Rosso (the red desert) is an Italian movie from 1964, directed by Michelangelo Antonioni and featuring Monica Vitti. Antonioni and Vitti made four films together, and Il Deserto Rosso was the last one. It`s a story of a woman who loses her way, doubting her very existence and struggling to make sense of the world around her. Interestingly enough, the film focuses completely on Vitti`s character - the male characters serve only as supporting roles and for this I would claim that Il Deserto Rosso is not only a neo-realistic classic, but also a feminist work of art.
I have written new music that I feel does the dark mood of the film justice.
