In this step-by-step solved problem on the Gravitational Field, we will calculate the Gravitational Field, Gravitational Potential, Gravitational Force, and Gravitational Potential Energy. Not only will you learn how to do it, but you’ll also understand the meaning of each of these quantities.
What is Gravitational Potential? When does Gravitational Potential Energy exist? Join me, and I’ll explain everything in this step-by-step solved problem on the gravitational field 😃🚀
STATEMENT:
Three point masses A, B, and C with values mA=5 kg, mB=10 kg and mC=20 kg are placed respectively at the points (0,0), (4,0) and (0,3) (in meters) on the plane.
a) Calculate the gravitational field at the point (4,3).
b) Calculate the gravitational potential at that point.
c) If a fourth mass of value 2 kg is placed at the point (4,3), calculate the force it experiences.
d) Calculate the potential energy of that mass.
Data: Gravitational Constant, 6.67·10^-11 N·m2·kg-2
SOLUTIONS:
22:03 Section a) (The gravitational field)
27:04 Section b) (The gravitational potential)
36:29 Section c) (The gravitational force)
39:10 Section d) (The gravitational potential energy)
