The name "Ramapuram" translates to "the abode of Lord Rama," the primary deity of the village. Remarkably, within a mere 3.5 km radius, the town hosts temples dedicated to Lord Rama and his three brothers - Lakshmana at Koodappulam, Bharata at Amanakara, and Shatrughna at Methiri. This unique feature makes Ramapuram a Hindu pilgrimage center, drawing devotees, especially during the month of 'Ramayana' in Karkadakam.

The prominent Sree Rama Temple in Ramapuram is a focal point for devotees. Additionally, the neighboring village Koodappulam is renowned for the Sri Lakshmana Swami Temple. Ramapuram boasts ancient Nair taravads like Mutikat, Parakkat, Pariyath, Arakkal, Kappamadathil, Pathirakkattil, Kaanattu Kannampalakkal, and Ezhava taravads such as ThazhatheEdappattu, Menamparambil, Kariythumpara, Kuzhivelil, Karathankal, contributing to its cultural richness.

Ramapuram is home to twin churches that stand as among the oldest in Kerala. The complex includes a smaller church dedicated to St. Augustine and a larger one dedicated to the Blessed Virgin. The St. Augustine church, dating back to 1450, and the Blessed Virgin church, erected in 1864, showcase architectural styles from the early colonial period, blending Persian and Portuguese influences. The newer church, consecrated in 2019, stands as the Biggest Catholic Church in Asia and India, as well as the Largest 'Syro Malabar Catholic' Church globally, under the Palai Diocese. The architectural styles include Greek, Portuguese, and German influences, making it a significant religious and architectural landmark.
