Skilled Migration Internship Program - Accounting (SMIPA) is a 1 year training program developed as a joint initiative by the Institute of Public Accountants (IPA), the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Australia (ICAA) and CPA Australia (CPAA). It is administered by registered providers who are jointly approved by the three professional bodies.

SMIPA is available to international students who graduate with an Australian accounting degree after at least two full years of study and who hold a 485 Graduate Visa or whose visa application is in processing with the Department of Immigration and Border Protection (DIBP). Successful completion of the SMIPA always awards additional points under the general skilled migration points program.
