In this video, I show how to disk render in Katana without using the batch render command. If you are working in look development, lighting, or texturing with Arnold (KtoA), this technique helps you output images or frames or sequences directly from the UI using built-in tools like Start Multiple Render and the Catalog tab. This is a great alternative when the command line batch tool is not an option or if you are working on a smaller setup without render farm access.
You will see how to launch renders from the right-click menu, define your file output path with the RenderOutputDefine node and send multiple render passes using the Katana Queue. I also cover how to use the Start Multiple Render tool to run several frames or variations in parallel and how to export your images directly from the Catalog tab, effectively simulating a batch render workflow without needing terminal access.
This tutorial is part of a larger series focused on look development/lighting/texturing/compositing using Foundry tools like Mari, Katana and Nuke. These videos are here to support your growth as a CG professional.
If you are new to Katana or just looking to speed up your lookdev/lighting/texturing/compositing workflow, this tip can save time and give you more control over your renders.
