A new composition tentatively titled Liminal Spaces No.1 that draws on inspiration from some pianists who have been greatly influential for me including Emahoy Tsegué-Maryam Guèbrou, Chris Abrahams, Ran Blake and Ellington. Performed during Covid pandemic restrictions live from my apartment for the Club Passim Global Roots series on my old broken grand piano (March 22, 2021).
These new compositions are the start of a long term new journey to blend seemingly disparate musical influences and let them simmer gently in improvisations, slowly building an unforced and natural communication between these styles and forging a new identity.
