This video shows how camelid-based systems can be effective climate-resilient solutions to improve nutrition and livelihoods for rangeland pastoralists. A recent study by Iowa State University highlights the importance of dromedary camels in Karamoja, Uganda, as reliable milk providers during drought and lean seasons. The study also identifies practical ways to strengthen camel pastoralism and enhance milk production, including improved animal-health services, capacity development, and greater community awareness. In alignment with the International Year of Rangelands and Pastoralists (IYRP) 2026, this video showcases why camel herders are key actors in climate adaptation and sustainable rangeland management.
