Artwork is a huge part of what draws me into D&D (and any game really). While 5e illustrations have continued to get more poppy and corporatized, I always come back to this amazing piece “Spare the Dying” by Kieran Yanner, featured as a half-page illustration in the DMG. It really should have been a full-page piece, as the amount of storytelling, detail, and human spirit in it is just amazing. As far as I’ve seen, I consider this the best work of art in 5th edition.
