Testing Carlac's UV us Tesla Cure Clear Coat | Wing Panel Blend with UV Fade Out Thinners
In this video, I test out Carlac’s UV us Tesla Cure clear coat on a wing panel, using a blend technique with their UV fade out thinners. This is a technical breakdown of how it applied and performed compared to traditional 2K clear.
Application Process:
1st coat: Fine, close coat with ~30 seconds flash-off
2nd coat: Nice even wet coat
3rd coat: I added a third due to gun sputtering issues – interested to see if this impacts performance
Flash-off time: 3–4 minutes
Curing: 2 minutes under UV lamp, then ready for polishing
Despite some trouble with my spray gun (my own fault for not cleaning it correctly), this gave me a chance to see how the clear coat handled real-world imperfections like dirt and sputtering. It sanded and polished really well – no worse than 2K clear in terms of workability.
✅ The blend line with the UV fade out thinners was seamless
✅ The UV clear went on beautifully – very comparable to traditional 2K
❌ The dirty finish let me see how it buffs out (surprisingly well)
This panel will now sit outside for a few months to test weather durability. I’ve seen other UV clears fail long-term, so I always like to test new products before using them on customer cars. First impressions are strong – let’s see how it holds up.
👉 Let me know your thoughts or if you’ve used this UV system before!
