Installing a Yoshimura exhaust on a Honda Ruckus

Описание: Did your Honda Ruckus suddenly get a lot louder? The exhaust system on the Honda Ruckus (Zoomer) is notorious for breaking where the header piper attaches to the muffler (silencer). This failure results in a much louder engine and people frequently compare the sound to an old lawnmower. You may also notice with a broken exhaust your scooter does not accelerate as well as it used to. This is because the engine and carburetor are specifically tuned for a very precise exhaust flow.

Often the exhaust failure is caused by one or both bolts that mount the exhaust bracket to the engine case rattling lose or breaking off. A crash on the scooter's right side can also bend the exhaust and put the pipe under tension. This tension, coupled with the heating and cooling of the exhaust during riding can cause a fracture.

Ruckus owners dealing with a broken exhaust will often have the pipe welded back together, but this repair usually only lasts a short while. When the exhaust is heated to high temperatures during the welding process the steel becomes brittle and will usually break near the welded portion.

New complete exhaust systems are still available from Honda but a price around $570 makes ordering an OEM exhaust very unappealing.
