This lesson on “Tapping Polyrhythms” is from my song “Zeroes and Ones” from the album "A Lesson in Impermanence" streaming on all major platforms here: https://johnferrarabass.hearnow.com
Lesson Description:
One of my all time favorite things to do is to tap polyrhythms. In this lesson I discuss how to first perfect a polyrhythm, and then how to incorporate it into a chord progression that you like. I discuss what I call the “16th note netting” that both components of the polyrhythm pull from even though you can’t hear them. If you can tap into that (pun not intended) , you'll see how both parts are part of a common grid where some notes collide and other bounce off of one another. This lesson is based on one rhythm doing 3 and one doing 5. It’s challenging, but once you crack the code you’re home free!
