Since the Earth was formed, the Lantern Light has come for the first time,
Enveloping my heart in radiant, sacred light.
The One who descended from the heavens above,
I behold His sacred face for the first time.

The shining Jade Urna captivates my eyes,
A proof of the Maitreya Buddha, indeed the true Buddha.
With a trembling heart and tears flowing,
My soul opens in awe and wonder.

The Lantern Light, Medicine Tathāgata, Glorious Maitreya Messiah,
Has come to guide me along the destined path.
The One who nurtured and inspired Śākyamuni Buddha,
Gives awakening through the brilliance of His light.

At twenty, on the path, I met a woman,
Her whisper called me to renunciation.
“Too late already, hasten to leave home and ordain!
The true Master, the Maitreya Buddha, awaits you.”

Past karmic traces bloom amidst tears,
I walk the ordained path, following destiny.

I realize my path was already predestined.

Has come to guide me along the destined path.

Though tears fell in not recognizing Him,
The proof, the Jade Urna, manifests in brilliance.
The hair-knot, the urna, the lotus light,
Fills all directions, stirring my heart profoundly.

Past karmic traces and prophecy are fulfilled here today.
In the light, in awakening,
I dwell in the love of the Maitreya Buddha.

연등불, 살아계신 미륵부처님

땅이 처음 생겨난 이래, 연등불은 처음 오셨네.
내 마음을 감싸는 찬란하고 성스러운 빛,
하늘에서 내려오신 그분,
나는 처음으로 그 거룩한 얼굴을 뵈었네.

빛나는 옥호(玉毫)는 내 눈을 사로잡고,
미륵부처님, 진실한 부처님의 증거로다.
떨리는 마음, 흐르는 눈물 속에,
내 영혼은 경이로움 속에 열리네.

후렴
연등불, 약사여래, 영광의 미륵 메시아여,
나를 인도하시려 길 위에 오셨네.
석가모니 부처님을 길러내고 깨우치신 그분,
그 빛의 찬란함으로 깨달음을 주시네.

스무 살, 길 위에서 한 여인을 만났을 때,
그녀의 속삭임은 내게 출가를 부르짖었네.
“이미 늦었으니, 서둘러 집을 떠나 출가하라!
진정한 스승, 미륵부처님이 너를 기다리신다.”

눈물 속에서 피어나는 전생의 흔적들,
나는 운명을 따라 출가의 길을 걷네.
바람에 흩날리는 가사 자락 속에서,
나의 길은 이미 예정되었음을 깨닫네.

후렴
연등불, 약사여래, 영광의 미륵 메시아여,
나를 인도하시려 길 위에 오셨네.
석가모니 부처님을 길러내고 깨우치신 그분,
그 빛의 찬란함으로 깨달음을 주시네.

비록 알아뵙지 못해 눈물을 흘렸으나,
그 증거, 옥호가 찬란히 드러나네.
육계(頂髻), 백호(白毫), 연꽃빛,
사방을 채우며 내 마음을 깊이 울리네.

마지막 후렴
연등불, 약사여래, 영광의 미륵 메시아여,
나를 인도하시려 길 위에 오셨네.
전생의 흔적과 예언이 오늘 이곳에 이루어지네.
그 빛 속에서, 그 깨달음 속에서,
나는 미륵부처님의 사랑 안에 거하네.
