Indian maritime university IMU is a central government institution under the ministry of ports, shipping, and waterways, government of India. IMU is the apex body for the maritime studies in India with its headquarters is in Chennai. It serves as governing body in deciding the maritime education in India.IMU conducts common entrance test IMU-CET every year on all India basis for its admissions to the courses in the IMU campuses and affiliated institutes. It has 18 affiliated institutes all over India. For admissions in affiliated institutes for Diploma in Nautical Science programs is only for sponsored candidates by ship owning or managing companies.
