HOW DID JESUS HEAL PEOPLE IN THE BIBLE?
I'm so thankful that many people are healed of every type of disease at our church including fourth stage cancer.
Mike and I took the course to volunteer as prayer servants, and they explained something revolutionary. Jesus is our example in every way and He never healed anybody by asking God to heal them (out loud). I'm sure he prayed that in His heart because God guided Him in everything He did and said, but we see from His example that He only healed people with command prayers.
I noticed in the original translation of Ephesians 6:18 that Paul says "with every type of prayer and petition...". I was shocked to see that there are different kinds of prayer so I started researching them, because according to this verse, petitions actually aren't 'prayers'! I found 3 other verses where he differentiates between prayers and petitions (AKA asking).
In Philippians 4:6, he says "Do not worry over things, but always by prayer AND supplication, with thanksgiving, let your needs be made known to God.", and in Hebrews 5:7, "When He was here as a man, Jesus offered up prayers AND REQUESTS with loud cries and tears to the One who was able to save Him from death, and He was heard because of reverence."
1 Timothy 2:1 says "I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people."
As I studied Jesus's example He gave us of how to pray in the Lord's prayer (Matthew 6:9+),
He says to pray "Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come! Your will be done on Earth as it is in heaven." (The first two prayers he said to pray were commands.😅) The next two are requests: "Give us today our daily bread and forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us." And it ends with another declaration of faith: "for yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever, amen!"
As I studied the original Greek, I found that the word 'ask' in the New Testament actually means "ask, command or petition". For ex., Matthew 21:22 could read: "All things you *ask, petition or command in prayer, believing, you will receive."
*aitēsēte means ask, petition or command
The 5 steps to answered prayers for healing that I did:
1. DECLARE grace and healing with our authority in Christ
2. PICTURE of God coming in and doing it by faith
3. DECLARE WHO GOD IS AND RECEIVE EVERYTHING HE IS FOR YOURSELF AND YOUR SITUATION
4. LISTEN TO HOLY SPIRIT AND WATCH IN THE SPIRIT FOR SIGNS OF HOW TO PRAY AND WHAT TO DO.
5. WAIT ON THE LORD EXPECTING HIM TO ACT.
