Police have urged Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor’s former bodyguards to come forward if they witnessed anything relevant during their time protecting him.
He was arrested on Thursday on suspicion of misconduct in public office, after emails in the Epstein files appeared to show him sharing confidential information while he was a UK trade envoy.
The Metropolitan Police said on Friday it is identifying and contacting past and present personal protection officers (PPOs). They are being asked to think carefully about anything they saw or heard that could help police inquiries, and to report it.
The Met said it is reviewing claims that officers may have ignored wrongdoing while travelling with him, including trips linked to Jeffrey Epstein. Police said they are also working with US authorities to check whether London airports were used to support trafficking or sexual exploitation.
A Met spokesperson added that, so far, no new criminal allegations of sexual offences in the Met’s jurisdiction have been made, despite widespread reporting, and urged anyone with new information to contact police.
