This impeccable sloop sailing yacht was built by Holland Jachtbouw with naval architecture by Dykstra Naval Architects as a replica of the classic J Class yacht RAINBOW, which won the America’s Cup in 1934. The original RAINBOW’s hull was made of bronze plates on iron frames, while the new RAINBOW’s hull is made of aluminum to maximize the performance rules of the J Class organization.

RAINBOW’s innovation and style have gained accolades in the industry. At the 2013 Showboats Design Awards, the yacht won the Naval Architecture Award for sailing yachts as well as was a finalist for the Interior and Exterior Design Awards for sailing yachts. In addition, RAINBOW won Best Sailing Yacht for 40m plus at the 2013 World Superyacht Awards.

Luxury yacht RAINBOW is the first J Class to have an innovative hybrid propulsion and power system. The yacht is operated on Hy-Store Li-ion batteries and a lightweight 50kw Hy-Gen variable speed generator combined with the 50kw main engine with an integrated flywheel generator to provide power. The sailing yacht’s batteries are able to be charged while sailing — lessening the carbon footprint. Furthermore, sailing yacht RAINBOW is an exceptionally quiet vessel, thanks to her innovative electric systems and floating interior.
