Georgia is one of the major exporters of culinary herbs: dill, parsley and coriander to Russia, Ukraine and other countries in the region thanks to a traditional production cluster in Imereti (Western Georgia). Lately production of mint and rucola was initiated but these are still niche products..
Herbs are grown in primitive self-made greenhouses (plastic tunnels) without heating. Handharvested and handpacked with ice into second-hand cigarette boxes with ice.
This video shows how it is done, how much are people paid along the whole herbs value chain.
