Javed Mohammed, a Muslim activist and Welfare Party of India leader from Allahabad, a few weeks ago, filed a complaint against an anti-Muslim hate speech event, Dharma Sansad that took place in the city.
His daughter, student activist Afreen Fatima believes that has led to the political vendetta against him. He is now jailed by UP police for allegedly being the "mastermind" of a protest that turned violent in the city on June 10. His house was demolished after his arrest, claiming that the house was an "illegal construction".
Speaking to Maktoob, Afreen Fatima decodes what had happened to her family and how it has become a disturbing pattern for Muslims in India.
