Shelly Beach _ Auckland - New Zealand

Описание: Shelly Beach Aotea / Shelly Beach, is a settlement and beach located on the eastern side of Te Korowai-o-Te-Tonga Peninsula and the southwest side of Kaipara Harbour, North Auckland.

A little over an hour north of Auckland central the route is initially via the North Western Motorway then State Highway 16 then finally via South Head Road and Shelly Beach Road. (Video is Shelly Beach Road) .

Incredibly popular as a boat launch facility especially on weekends and public holidays. There is also a children's playground and picnic area although sometimes it's hard to find a parking space with all the boat trailers.

For decades there was also an incredibly popular cafe right opposite the wharf which served legendary fish and chips along with the usual cafe delights.
I'm not sure the background but maybe it was the covid lock-downs but the previous tenant in the Auckland Council owned building did not renew the cafe lease.
In the meantime the Council has completed much overdue renovations to the building. Hopefully a tenant can be found as my family and I have enjoyed many meals there, it being a favourite with my mother on her trips nothing to visit me.
I believe the locals have presented a petition to council demanding more effort be made to find a tenant as the cafe was the only shop in the whole Shelly Beach Settlement.
