The Perfect Score developed this bread scoring system to utilize the M-2iA/3SL delta style robot from FANUC America. Previously the scoring for this line required multiple persons to score by hand with knife-blades. However close proximity, line speed, and human error made the hand scoring an undesirable option for long-term operation. This new robotic system by The Perfect Score increased accuracy and efficiency, allowing the bakery to produce a more appealing product for its customers.
 
This bread scoring system uses a FANUC M-2iA/3SL delta style robot to automate the scoring process for this bakery's production line. A bakery's products are not always in exact alignment while traveling through a conveyor circuit, so each dough-piece needs to be accurately located. The blue color seen in the video represents FANUC's unique iRVision robotic vision system, which was set up using FANUC's innovative iRPickTool software. FANUC iRPickTool is a software simulation product that simplifies the setup of complex, high-speed picking and packing conveyor tracking by allowing the end user to visualize, engineer, test and evaluate a high-speed FANUC robotic system before building. A specialized 30 kHz ultrasonic probe and blade from Dukane scores the bread. This ultrasonic tool offers the best cut for this particular product, however many other tooling options are available to help match a customer's scoring configuration and their distinct products.

This single system with the ultra fast FANUC M-2iA robot is capable of scoring approximately 220 - 240 pieces of product per minute. Multi-robot systems are also available to accommodate bakeries with different or faster production needs. For other automated bread scoring systems, The Perfect Score utilizes a variety of cutting technologies, some of which may include rotary blades, ultrasonics, razor blades, and water.
